Fitness trends to spice up your workout

Fitness Trends Spice Up Your Workout

Fitness trends sometimes tend to come and go, and 2018 won't be any different, but that doesn't mean that it's not valuable to take a look at them. As beneficial as regular exercise is, performing the same routine over and over can get dull and become less effective. Switching things up a little can bring a feeling of freshness and excitement back into your exercise routine, and make it seem like less of a chore and more fun. We've noted three fitness trends below that should be worth your time to consider.

Fusion Classes

Mixing exercise styles gives you a varied workout that works muscles you may have neglected, which is why the activites like kayoga, piloxing, and poolates are becoming more popular. If you feel that you have plateaued with your current workout routine, consider signing up for one of the many fusion classes that are probably available near you.

Fusion Classes Combine What You Enjoy

Let’s imagine that you already take spin classes, or regularly exercise in the pool, but also want to build strength. You could opt to switch to a class that also employs the use of resistance bands or free weights in the exercise routine. You should look for a class that incorporates one form of exercise that you already like and mixes it with another that brings added benefits to your fitness goals. Yoga enthusiasts might try piloxing, aerial yoga, or poolates.

Dance Fusion Classes

If you want to burn calories and have fun in the process, Zumba and Masala Bhangra are great ways to do so. You are essentially dancing away your excess weight.

If you’d like to add a little bit of resistance training into the dance workout, house party fitness is worth a look. Another new form of exercise is Pound, which is essentially a fusion of plyometrics, pilates, cardio, and isometric movements.

The average dance fusion class lasts about 45 minutes and will help you burn off somewhere in the region of 600-900 calories. The combination of drumsticks and dance moves gives you a full body workout.

Wellness and Lifestyle Coaches

Hot Fitness Trends

A healthy lifestyle is not just limited to eating well and exercising regularly. A wellness coach can help keep you focused on achieving your health and fitness goals, which can be most helpful when you're looking at a long-term lifestyle change.

While the approach taken is similar to the one-on-one style of a personal trainer, your lifestyle coach will take a more holistic approach to your lifestyle changes. They will help put together a strategy that gives you the best chance of success. Your personal trainer or doctor may very well be able to recommend a wellness coach. Keep in mind that you need to be fully committed to making change, so be sure you are ready to do so before meeting your wellness coach.
